About Little Lit

If you’re any kind of creative writer in New Zealand, you may have found it challenging to get your words shared, seen, and applauded. It’s either so difficult to ‘break out’ among the same high-profile names in the industry, get feedback, or to receive acknowledgement and accolades for your work. There’s also no ‘easy’ place to submit your work and see it published. We want to change that.

Little Monroe Literary and its journal The Little Lit is for writers, readers, reviewers, and inspiration-seekers. We celebrate novelists, short story writers, children’s book authors, illustrators, graphic novelists, poets, scriptwriters, and lyricists. With free submissions, regular competitions, and monthly themes to get the creative juices flowing, we are unashamed to share your work on your behalf. We will be your biggest advocate.

More than all of this, we want to be a community for our creatives out there.

Our Story

Little Monroe Lit and its literary journal The Little Lit was established in 2024. Crewed by a small team of writers and designers, it it edited by KT, a journalist and indie author who has navigated both the grassroots print and publishing industries in Aotearoa New Zealand. Trained in writing from The University of Waikato, her goal with The Little Lit is to support and showcase indie creatives from across the country, regardless of background, place, industry experience, or publishing credentials.
