Novel Competition Guidelines

Returning for a second year, The Little Lit Novel Excerpt Competition allows writers to send through whatever their working on, any genre, at any stage of completion. Winner/s and runners-up get published and shared across our socials.

WHAT WE ARE PROVIDING

The Little Lit is a new literary magazine aimed to promote and celebrate the Indie Writers of New Zealand. Competitions give writers a chance to gain confidence to share their work, earn feedback, and add to their creative CV by getting published. Competitions come with a small entry fee in order to keep The Little Lit running.

WHAT’S INVOLED

Entrants can submit a maximum of three chapters of their work-in-progress or UNPUBLISHED novel for a one-off fee of $5, but each new section must be clearly identified. Any additional submissions (more than three) will only be accepted after an additional payment of $5. All work remains the property of the author and can be submitted elsewhere.

One winner will receive publication in The Little Lit, a bio uploaded to 'Our Creatives' page, promotion across our social media pages and newsletter, and more. Runners-up may also receive publication and promotion.
